Current location of the Shelter

See the rotation schedule below, clients needing shelter that have children are asked to call 717-249-1009. For after business hours emergencies call 717-422-1240. All new clients are required to have an NCIC form filled out by the Carlisle Police Dept. before being permitted into the shelter.

Volunteers needed

Professional volunteer: This person works professionally in the social service field, or has homeless shelter experience.
Male overnight volunteer: One Male is needed to stay the night with the homeless every everynight.
Female overnight volunteer: One Female is needed to stay the night with the homeless everynight.
Host volunteer: This person is a member of the church/facility that is hosting the shelter, and opens the doors for the other volunteers each night.
Contact volunteer: This is a person who organizes a group of people from their church or group and schedules them to volunteer.
Hospitality volunteer: This person helps with setting up snacks and beverages at the shelter each night. This person also helps with keeping track of inventory, and helps replenish those items needed.
Transportation Driver: This person helps drive the homeless guests to the shelter when it is on the out skirts of town.

Volunteer training is offered on the 15th of every month (except July, and August). If you are interested in signing up for training, contact Shari Bellish at 422-1240 or sharigeo@aol.com to register.

October- Carlisle Friends Meeting (”A” Street)
November- St John’s Episcopal Church ( on the square)
December- Unitarian Church (Boiling Springs) transportation provided to shelter. Pick-up/Drop-off location is Salvation Army
January- Allison United Methodist Church (Dickinson Campus)
February- First Lutheran (E High St)
March- Calvary Rd Church of God (corner of Calvary Rd & Spring Rd) transportation provided to shelter. Pick-up/Drop-off location is Salvation Army
April- Carlisle Evangelical Free Church (Petersburg Rd)
transportation will be provided, Pick-up/Drop-off location is Salvation Army
May-St Paul’s Luthern Church (corner of Louther & N West St)
June- Grace United Methodist Church (corner of Pomfret & S West St)
